About John Cameron
John Cameron is councillor for the Burnage ward, having won the seat for the Liberal Democrats, from Labour, for the first time in 2003. He was subsequently re-elected in 2004, along with fellow Liberal Democrats Iain Donaldson and Rodney Isherwood. John has campaigned for improved road safety in Burnage and Didsbury for years and has been pleased to see new pedestrian crossings over Kingsway and Burnage Lane, together with speed camera on Errwood Road and Kingsway and 20mph zones around the local schools implemented since he became a Councillor. However, he says that the work has only started and much more remains to be done.
John is the chair of the Burnage Multi Agency Group, which is a voluntary group providing youth work in the community. He is also a school Governor at Ladybarn Primary School. He was the agent for John Leech MP during his successful 2005 general election campaign for Manchester Withington. John currently serves as the Chair of the Economy, Employment and Skills and Scrutiny Committee. He holds a degree in Town and Country Planning from Manchester University and is a qualified nurse. John lives in Burnage.
